  2. Funny stuff, I like your move into movie reviews.. keep it up! Also, Wesley Willis is awesome, saw him live a few times.. one of a kind that dude.

That’s awesome. I didn’t really know about Wesley Willis until the last few years after he already passed away. I wish I could have had that opportunity.

This was really good. I hope you do more of these. And WVG. Don’t ever stop doing those.

Bond movies were always pretty goofy, but I never really thought about how poorly thought out this one was.

I do love the idea of Bond sticking it to some poor schlub in the steam room just because he had a bad day.

  4. Nice concept for a new show, I like it. Keep up the good work.

Now I must have seen this movie a million times on television (because for some reason this is the one Bond film they always show), but I really didn’t remember any of it beyond the sharks, never realised just how stupid this thing is.

  5. Nice one, I do love this kind of reviews. It is as good as the Wacky Wiki!
You seem to be good at karate (or whatever sport combat it is, I’m sorry I can’t tell) you and your brothers.

I’m glade there is more updates these days, because your show is not only really fun to watch, it is also a good way for me to improve my english.

  6. That was great! Laughed so hard at various moments!

Interesting choice for a movie, though. When it comes to cheesy moments, most of the Bond movies feature really nice examples. But in my mind, Thunderball was always that boooring Connery Bond. Only your review gave it the nice hard look it deserved!
Btw, what is your opinion on the remake: “Never say never”? It thought this was quite cheesy in a really weird way (although I will always love the World Domination video game).

I wonder what cheesy movie you will come up with next. If I might make a suggestion:
It was a really smart move to go for at least a movie from a well-known series (well, I guess Thunderball is well-known by itself). But I figure it might be a mistake to walk the same road as so many internet reviewers these days: picking some incredibly hilarious and cheesy movie of totally obscure origin which nobody – except for some hardcore fanbase – has ever even heard of. This won’t attract many viewers. For me, it won’t matter so much since I’m already part of your fanbase, but I would really like to hear your opinion on a movie I know, rather than some obscure movie.
I beg your pardon, but this is also the reason why I don’t really care for your “Weird Video Games” series so much. The games themselves might be totally crazy and exploitable, but I just cannot relate to them. This totally changes of course, when you review a movie I know. Chances are that a well-known movie might also be known by me and most other people! :-)

So keep up the good work! Looking forward to your next review! And please forgive my writing where applicable. English is my second language.

Thanks a lot for your work and dedication! I’ve done movies before, so I know the pain (at least at some points during the process).

Hi, thanks for the comment. Your English is excellent, so no worries. :)

To be honest, I haven’t seen a lot of the Bond movies. I hope to watch more of them soon.

As for reviewing obscure movies vs mainstream, the problem with that is I kind of want to show the viewers how totally insane the movie (or game) is and I do that more effectively if it’s a movie they haven’t seen. I am kind of wary about how to go about reviewing these because I know a lot of other reviewers do the same thing, but unintentional comedy has always been something I love (maybe even more than intentional comedy). So I’m trying to do something fun with it without copying the style and format of other reviewers. To begin with, I’m not going to only review movies. The series will review anything I can find that’s unintentionally funny. Movies, games, comics, commercials, whatever I can find.

Sorry you can’t get into my Weird Video Games series, but the fact that the games are hard to relate to is kind of the point. :p I like to leave the viewer totally perplexed and wondering what it was they just saw. Now and then I am able to review something more mainstream and that tends to get people’s attention. But it’s hard to take something someone already knows and show them it’s crazy in a way they didn’t already think about.

I appreciate your concerns. If you have any suggestions for material, I’m definitely open to them.

      • Hi Evil Genius (is that an appropriate way to address you?),
thanks for your quick reply and appreciation. I indeed may have some suggestions. But first to response to your reply:

You wrote: “As for reviewing obscure movies vs mainstream, the problem with that is I kind of want to show the viewers how totally insane the movie (or game) is and I do that more effectively if it’s a movie they haven’t seen.”

        > Oh, but you did do this totally effective with Thunderball for me. I thought I knew this movie very well, seeing it several times since being a kid. But thats my whole point. I THOUGT I knew it well until you came along and game me a fresh perspective in your funny, original way. I think many of us “older” folk (I’m going to be 35 this year) have so many movies, games, books and stories they grew up with and loved as kids and teenagers. I know, some of us are over-protective of their beloved memories – unreasonable as they may be – but most of us know that they’re just nostalgic. Being part of the latter group, I can have so much fun by having my perspectives changed on a subject I thought I already knew everything there is to know about. Thats what you did for me with Thunderball.
For example, I never thought about how hilarious it is that Bond stores a freaking jet pack to escape. Inspired by your review I then realized this happens in Bond movies all the time. I just saw my favorite Bond movie “You only live twice” again only to find out how seamless events are tied together in a way that could never happen in the real world – only to keep Bond going. Well, I guess, Bond only stops (mostly for long and stereotypical attempts to get into some woman’s pants) when he decides to. In a way, he has much in common with the protagonist in a linear video game. Just finding items to overcome obstacles right before they occur. ;-)

For the future I suggest taking material that takes itself too serious (which of course is another way of saying unintentionally funny). Here are some examples:

        - Planet of the Apes by Tim Burton (this movie takes itself WAY to seriously and would be a nice tie-in with your great review of Beneath the Planet of the Apes)
        - Never Say Never Again by Irvin Kershner (yes, THAT Irvin Kershner from The Empire Strikes Back fame. This is supposed to be a remake of Thunderball and features an OLD Sean Connery in an attempt to revive the original Bond experience by, well, being goofy. Many exploitable characters and moments)
        - If you want to go for something more obscure, how about the french attempt of copying Top Gun:
        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sky_Fighters
I thouht it was unintentionally funny. And it was financed by me (at least part of it ;-)

To not derail the conversation, I will stop here. Let me only suggest one more thing: For your future movie reviews, pick those that have at least one well-known aspect. May it be a well-known movie by itself, starring a well-known actor/actress or being the work of a well-known director/producer. Please don’t pick some totally obscure horror movie starring no-one. It may be original, it may be unintentionally funny, but it’s neither relatable nor will it attract many viewers.

Just my 2 cents. Whatever you do, thanks a lot for your dedication and time! Your movie rewies are beyond (not beneath ;-) my favorites on the whole internet.

That balloon thing is actually a real method of evacuation. It’s called the Fulton Surface-to-Air Recovery System. I know this because A) that exact scene is mentioned on TV Tropes’ reality is unrealistic page, and B) it was mentioned in Metal Gear Solid 3.

    • heisanevilgenius on said:

I can buy that it’s a real method when it’s one person, but Bond has to hold Domino the entire time because they only have one balloon. If his arms didn’t get dislocated from the sudden yank, there’s still no way he could hold onto her that entire trip.
