October 22, 2004. I've
got an hour to kill before I leave for work, so I decide to pick on
someone in a yahoo chat room. If I had more time I
would have kept looking until I got someone (preferably a woman in her
forties) who's very unsavvy in computers
and the internet in general, but I didn't have much, so I went with the first person
who asked, "Is it possible to like Harry Potter too much?"
GaryZeroSixThree: Excuse me, but
I have an e-mail address on my mail list that's river11@yahoo.ca.
That's not your e-mail, is it?
riverfaerie: nope
GaryZeroSixThree: Okay. It's just that a virus got spread
through my computer to people on my mail list and I'm trying to warn
them.
GaryZeroSixThree: I think it might have used yahoo chat
rooms to spread. Do you have any alternate e-mails? I have a list of
addresses that were sent to
riverfaerie: I have
several, but you have never e-mailed me. I've never given out my
e-mails in here
GaryZeroSixThree: Oh, okay
GaryZeroSixThree: Out of curiousity, though, do you have
an address (or know someone who has it) skullnbones@kozmail.com?
GaryZeroSixThree: Do any of these ring a bell?
tweetycorn@mushroom.net heyhey@garbage.com nietzsche@yahoo.com
biggiantjugs89@hotmail.com flyinganaltrap@yahoo.com asshead@yahoo.com
penetrationhorse@zoomail.com batmanisfake@yahoo.com ?
riverfaerie: no
GaryZeroSixThree: See a lot of them have yahoo and they
were sent out about the time I entered this chat room yesterday
GaryZeroSixThree: Just wondering
riverfaerie: I wasn't on yesterday
GaryZeroSixThree: Okay, thanks
GaryZeroSixThree: Do you know many people in this room
though? Maybe you could put the word out or something?
riverfaerie: most folks have anti-virus protection on
their computers, they should be safe.
GaryZeroSixThree: Ouch. My CD player started opening and
closing on its own.
GaryZeroSixThree: This is bad. I thought I cleaned them
all. Must be one of those new ones.
riverfaerie: good luck with that
