[edit] Uncanny X-Men #9

"He is as alert as ever! But this time not even his brilliant brain can save him! Even he cannot overcome the power of an artificial dust devil!"
"He is as alert as ever! But this time not even his brilliant brain can save him! Even he cannot overcome the power of an artificial dust devil!"

They make him sound all menacing and then this happens.

"A dust devil! It cannot exist in a place like this... so it must be artificially caused! That means it's the work of Lucifer!""It's carrying me through the tunnel, as though it has a mind of its own! And in a sense it does... the mind of Lucifer!"

"It's carrying me through the tunnel, as though it has a mind of its own! And in a sense it does... the mind of Lucifer!"

This is an awkward monologue even for Stan Lee. Also, it's interesting that the dust devil overtakes him before he can act, but he still has time to talk and talk.

Yes, be careful not to mention anyone's names, Bobby. I also love how Cyclops thinks he's being discreet by calling him X, yet he's still talking loudly about their plans in public.

"Quick! Call the police... the army... anybody!! There's monsters back there!! Creatures with wings, hammers, shields... even giants!" "He seems to be in a state of shock! He obviously saw something which startled him!"

"It was terrible! They were warning me of danger! They must be stopped!"

The giant I understand, but why does this guy equate a man with a shield to a monster? I also love how Cyclops once again hasn't listened to a single word.

I don't know. Maybe explain the situation?

Note that the X-Men and Avengers have a big battle here just because they decide not to tell them what's going on.

What sense does that make!? Why don't they stick around and help?

Image:Uncanny_X-Men_9_-_freetoleave.jpg

Okay, I get the ethics involved here. I understand they don't want to kill or harm him. But why are they letting him go? He can just go build another bomb that can destroy the world. At least turn him over to the authorities or something.

[edit] The Highlight

Image:Uncanny_X-Men_9_-_hole.jpg

There's a lot of craziness here that needs no comment, but I love how even though the Professor is tied up with a life and death struggle, he still takes the time to send a mental congratulation to Marvel Girl for not tripping over a hole.
