Video Game

Year: 1992

Developer: Konami

Platform: Arcade Game

Summary:

Six of the X-Men team up to fight a bunch of goofy inarticulate versions of their foes, plus some human-sized sentinels, and a bunch of plant monsters in this obvious clone of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game that came out 3 years earlier.

[edit] Wackiness

The Foot Clan ninja robots needed to be replaced with something, and the developers seemed to think that the giant hulking robots that hunted mutants in the comics would make sense as the most generic enemy in the game, shrunk down to human size and coming in every colour of the rainbow.

Japanese game developers just can't seem to make a game based on an established story without throwing in a whole slew of enemies or other elements that don't really fit. (See Predator and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)

Pyro

Here's a taunt that just gets more ridiculous as the sentence goes on.

Nothing Moves the Blob

It's especially great how he'll keep repeating this line even as you're beating the DNA out of him.

[edit] The Highlight

Magneto is a master wordsmith.
Wendigo

I have no idea who Wendigo is, but I'm willing to bet that in the comics he did more than just continually repeat his name.

The White Queen

Not only does the White Queen also welcome you to "die" just like Magneto, but she also seems to find getting severely beaten absolutely hilarious.

Note: The White Queen's laugh is obviously Magneto's laugh at a higher pitch. Check it out.

What is that Sentinel doing!?
Magneto is Over There!
More Pyros

Image:X-men_-_Pyros.png

Ah, yes. The time-honoured video game tradition of throwing in multiple versions of a person there should really only be one of. (See Wolfenstein 3d)

Magneto

Magneto has an entire collection of lame taunts and bad voice acting.
